State of awe

After being gone for a few weeks, I'm at a bit of a loss as to where to begin.

Let's start with the most basic: we have moved to Boston! We've been here for about a month now, but were away on vacation for two weeks, so it still feels very new. I love our apartment and cute little neighborhood so much. It still feels like we're on an extended home-away stay, actually. There's just so much space! So many free places to park! All the cocktails seem very inexpensive! I'm sure this state of awe won't last forever, so I'm trying to savor this glowy feeling about our new area for as long as possible.

I've missed being here very much, and can't wait to get back to chatting about cooking and decorating and travel adventures. I've got a few recipes, a little house tour, a Martha's Vineyard travel guide and a fun sewing project all coming up!

How is your summer going?! Read anything amazing? Are you eating your maximum quota of August ice cream? Tell me!

  1. YAY! Welcome back. I cannot wait for new posts about your summer travels and adventures...not to mention a house tour!!

  2. I've been wondering how Boston has been! I'm so glad you've been in a honeymoon phase (instead of a homesickness phase, like a few friends who have moved recently). Welcome back!

We LOVE the place and are also in the honeymoon phase. This weekend in particular Shawn kept making remarks like "Our fridge was NEVER this full in Manhattan!" The girls adore Chloe (and we adore them) - we rendezvous with them on the stoop every few days.

I had lent my ice cream maker to a coworker and she just rehomed it to me, so I made two recipes from the Jeni's cookbook this weekend. The sweet corn flavor was particularly amazing. I told Shawn not to put the canister back in the freezer, to slow me down in case the urge to make more ice cream struck, but he did not obey my wishes.

  3. Welcome back! I've wondered how you were doing & glad to hear you've been well! Can't wait to read about all the things you mentioned! :)

  4. Oooh! Looking forward to all the upcoming posts! Glad to hear you are loving the new apartment and neighborhood. Yay!

  5. Thanks for the warm welcome back, ladies!

Kate, my ice cream maker has TWO canisters, so there is always a cold one. Super dangerous when I'm on an ice cream making kick! I have to try that sweet corn recipe - it keeps popping up and sounds so good!

  6. So glad you are back! You were missed! So happy that you are enjoying your new home!

  7. Good to have you back! Glad you're having fun settling into your new home and your new neighborhood. Nick and I love Boston! Can't wait to hear details.
