Attitude adjustment

A lot of people declare that fall is their favorite season. The chill in the air, the colorful leaves, the fresh start. I don't understand the appeal. To me, all the fun stuff happens in summer. There's extra time off, beach vacations, ice cream, and as much pink clothing as you want. Fall is death, the end of fun!

As you can see, I'm in need of an attitude adjustment. Here are a few things that might get me just a tiny bit excited about autumn.

1. Shawl, H&M. It has a fox on it! That's cool, not creepy, right?
2. Garden Place Small Coal, Kate Spade. Neutral bags seem like they should go with everything, but really, red, green and yellow bags are wardrobe workhorses.
3. Zippy coasters, Anthropologie. I need these - they totally match my new curtains!
4. Fair and Tender Ladies by Lee Smith. New book club selection! I'll read it, but attend in spirit.
5. Poser by Claire Dederer. Reading this now and loving it - a very nice reminder about practicing joy.
6. Modern Croc Blouson, Ann Taylor. I tried this on and loved it; now I'm waiting for it to become deeply discounted :)
7. Monogrammed pillow, Martha Stewart. Fun new craft added to my ever-growing list.

Do you share these hateful feelings about autumn's approach, or are you one of those crazy people that claim love it?! What are you excited about buying, making or reading these days?

  1. I'm one of the crazy fall-lovers. :) I've got a massive collection of scarves and handknit autumn accessories, and I love turning leaves and textured tights and chai lattes and cups of tea.

I loved Poser - so funny and wise and deep. And that Ann Taylor dress is lovely.

I'm excited about a bit of fall knitting, and starting to make soup again. But I am enjoying the end of summer while I can.

  2. I don't claim to love fall, I DO love it. Sweaters and tights and pumpkins and leaves...I love it all. And from the looks of it, I need to check out my local H&M for that fox scarf--so cute!

  3. i love it. desperately. and i miss 'real' fall. over here we call it 'autumn' (and only autumn, when i say fall, people look at me strangely) and rarely does it have the crispness or the very good coloured leaves...

  5. I'm one of the crazy people! I can't help it. I love fall. Knit scarves, college football, soups that simmer all day, pumpkin ales. And I believe this fall will be the best one yet :)

  6. I so agree with you! Summer is the best season! By the way, you made me feel smug! I bought Poser at Borders for 90% off! Just thought it sounded interesting!

  7. I'm not crazy to love fall. It's beautiful and wonderful. And it's when Neal & I got married, so it is sentimental that way.
